How To Eat Better And Spend Less

Most American workers have not seen a wage increase in some time. But the cost of everything continues to inflate. Some food prices have jumped because of climate change, drought and political factors. But customers can take some good steps to significantly decrease those food costs, and eat better concurrently.

Reduce food expenses rule number one

When you go out to eat, you do not know what is in your meal and it is oftentimes really unhealthy. If you cook and eat at home, it is usually much healthier. You will even save a ton of money.

If time is an issue, you can always get a crockpot. It takes about two minutes to throw some vegetables and beef in the crockpot for a delicious meal later.

Eat less beef

Rather than making beef the center of every meal, you can just put it into your food or have a vegetarian meal once a week. You will get much healthier and possibly lose weight with the change. Do not go vegan, but try reducing back a little.

Take advantage of non-organic food

By avoiding organic food, you will save a lot of cash. Some people think that organic food is the only way to go because it is really healthy, but there's actually no evidence to support organic food being any healthier than any food. On top of that, it is always a lot more expensive than commercially grown food. Consider frozen vegetables; they will last longer and have more nutrition occasionally.

Hydrated body important

Keep your body replenished at all costs by drinking a ton of water. Do not waste cash on water bottles; just get filtered tap water. That is usually the cheapest way to go. You will stay away from all the extra calories associated with soda pop and sugary drinks, and you will stay replenished.

Never drink alcohol at home if you want to begin saving to. Only do it socially.

Limit commercially prepared food

Commercially prepared foods are not very healthy usually and are much more expensive than just making it yourself, so stay away from them whenever you can.

Get a menu ready

You can save a lot of cash by planning your meals for the week rather than just guessing every single day. You may want to prepare two weeks at a time in order to go with your payday. Look in the pantry at what you already have, and go shopping for the rest. Always use a list whenever you are shopping and stick to it. If it is not on the list, you cannot get it.

To further reduce shopping costs, you might like to consider getting a membership to a warehouse store like Costco or Sam's Club.

Make meals at home

It is really healthy to make homemade lunches instead of going out to eat, so do that whenever possible.

Think to the future

Plant a garden and find others who do the same. After your harvest, you can exchange produce with your brand new friends and begin saving even more money.
